Ingredients

green chilli=500 gms
big Mustard seeds(sarson)= 80gms
Black mustard seeds(Rai dal )=60 gms
chilli powder=2 tsp
salt=3 tsp
mustard oil=300 ml
Hing=2 pinch
Fennel seeds= 100 gms


PREPARATION TO MAKE HARI MIRCH KA ACHAR

1. rinse and wipe dry the green chilies very well. there should be no trace of moisture in them. you can also let them dry on their own. remove the crowns and just chop the green chilies in 1 inch pieces

2. in a dry grinder or coffee grinder, powder the mustard seeds coarsely. here i used yellow mustard seeds. but you can also use black mustard seeds.
MAKING GREEN CHILLI PICKLE

  1. Heat oil in a pot . First crackle the cumin seeds. Then add the ground onion-tomato paste.
  2. Stir and cook for a minute.
  3. Saute the ground paste till the oil releases from the sides. The masala paste will also thicken. The mixture splutters. So do cover partly with a lid. Once the mixture stops spluttering, then remove the lid and saute.
  4. Then add the asafoetida powder, red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  5. Stir and then add the geen chilli or hari mirch. Saute for a minute. Add salt.
  6. Stir well and cover the pot. Simmer till the are cooked well.
  7. Lastly sprinkle garam masala powder or garam masala powder and stir.
  8. Then add 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves (cilantro leaves).
  9. Stir well and serve aloo matar hot with pooris, chapatis or rice.
